TinyURL is a URL shortening service. With a 140 character limit for Tweets, services like this make it possible to squeeze in that much more into each tweet, especially when you want to publish a long website URL.

Started using this in what... 2006? Way before the craze of URL shorteners caught on. Doesn't offer what bit.ly does, so I don't use it that much any more.

They were the first on the scene... TinyURL.com is not as short as is.gd, but its the classic... Using this URL shortener trademarks you via your tweets as a geek!

While close to every app that I use already handles this task, it's nice to have something on the web no matter what computer you're using that can handle the task of URL shortening.
